My Journey

Hi, I’m Nicholaus Flores, the proud owner and creative force behind Nico’s On First Avenue, a vibrant plant shop located in the heart of downtown Kennewick. My journey into the world of plants began as a personal passion, which blossomed into a full-fledged business, where I now have the privilege of sharing my love for greenery with my community.

Growing up, I always had an affinity for nature and the outdoors. Over time, this fascination evolved into a deep interest in houseplants, particularly rare and exotic species. I found myself captivated by their unique characteristics, the way they bring life into a space, and how they can transform an environment.

In 2023, I decided to turn this passion into a business, and Nico’s On First Avenue was born. My goal was to create more than just a plant shop; I wanted to cultivate a space where people could connect with nature, find inspiration, and learn how to care for their plants. Whether you’re a seasoned plant enthusiast or just starting your journey, Nico’s is a place where everyone is welcome.

What I Do At Nico’s On First Avenue, we offer a carefully curated selection of houseplants, from the easy-to-care-for to the rare and unusual. We also provide a range of plant care essentials, unique pottery, and thoughtful gifts. Our shop is more than just a retail space; it’s a community hub for plant lovers. I take great pride in sharing my knowledge through workshops, care guides, and personalized advice to help you nurture your plants at home.

I love this place. Nico is great. Super friendly and helpful and he is there a lot interacting with his customers as opposed to some other plant shops where you never see the owner. I love the family dynamic where his sister and parents are there helping out. He has a great selection of plants. Highly recommend.

Nico is very knowledgeable on plant care and recommending a plant if you need. I asked for something that “wasn’t easy to kill “ because I was going to gift it to someone who doesn’t know how to take care of plants and he told me or a couple different plants I could get. He’s also really courteous. He will open the door for you when you enter the store

First of all the shop is gorgeous! Great selection of plants and pots at reasonable prices. I was purchasing a gift and Nico repotted it and bagged it up beautifully. I had (store provided) coffee while I waited. He even helped me put everything in my car. Overall a great a great experience and a wonderful shop. Definitely recommend and I already have :):):)
